The Orchard

The Orchard

Best K-12 School Building

The Orchard, a luxury condominium project in Chicago, was awarded the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute’s 2022 Sidney Freedman Craftsmanship Award. This prestigious annual award recognizes PCI-certified plants for their excellence in manufacturing and craftsmanship of architectural precast concrete and glass fiber-reinforced concrete (GFRC) structures and individual components.
LAPPCO was selected to manufacture the exterior precast concrete panels for the project. The structure features intricate balcony designs, roof-level cornices, door and window trim, and various lineal reveals, which required specialized formwork and detailed construction. LAPPCO created more than 400 precast concrete panels to realize the architect’s vision.
